Dental Fillings

Composite fillings, Tooth colored fillings

Dental fillings may be made of various materials, including metals, polymers, ceramics, glass, etc. Fillings often replace tooth structures lost due to decay, sometimes known as a "cavity." In addition to fixing cavities, fillings may fix cracked, fractured, or worn-out teeth (such as nail-biting or tooth-grinding).

What kinds of substances are used to fill cavities in teeth?

The following are examples of dental filling materials

  • Gold.
  • Porcelain.

Inorganic silver-based amalgam (contains mercury mixed with silver, tin, zinc, and copper).

Composite resin fillings are made of plastic and glass to match the colour of your teeth. They are light cured long lasting and most commonly done filling materials.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges Crowns and bridges are two restorative techniques used to replace missing or damaged teeth. The procedure is used to repair natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed, or lost. Their advantages include the restoration of tooth function, shape or alignment, and appearance. The use of crowns and bridges also prevents teeth from shifting after a tooth is lost.

Dental crowns are permanently attached to natural teeth or implants and can only be removed by a dentist. A crown is used to completely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth, and it can also be used to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function on top of an implant. Tooth bridges, on the other hand, are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth.

Crown

A crown is an artificial tooth part usually made of porcelain or ceramic or zirconia. It covers or caps the damaged tooth.

Before putting on a crown, your dentist Dr. Kanika Gupta will shave some enamel off your tooth to make room for it. Then, they make a mould of the tooth, choose a colour that goes with your other teeth, and send the mould to a dental lab where the crown will be made.

This could take 3-5 days. When the crown comes back, your dentist Dr. Kanika Gupta will put it on your broken tooth and glue it in place. If you take good care of it, a crown can last your lifetime.

Sore tooth

When a crack is so big that it goes into the pulp, your dentist or a specialist like an oral surgeon or endodontist will suggest a root canal to remove the damaged pulp and give the tooth some strength again. With this procedure, the tooth won't get infected or become weaker.

Extraction

When the tooth's structure and the nerves and roots below it is badly damaged, you may have no choice but to take the tooth out.

No medicine

The enamel on the teeth of many people has tiny hairline cracks. Dr. Kanika Gupta may tell you to leave these cracks alone if they don't look bad or hurt. Do you despise the feeling of having a tooth that is broken? The Manav hospital service will be able to assist you in locating a dentist like Dr. Kanika Gupta if you do not currently have one.
